What is the Visual GBV Pocket Guide Process Framework?

The Visual GBV Pocket Guide Process Framework is a practitioner-friendly tool that lays out a stepwise approach for the development of a new additional visual version of the original inter-agency GBV Pocket Guide, building on learning and evidence from an intensive 2-year process to adapt the GBV Pocket Guide into three new visual versions for South Sudan, Mali, and Honduras.

This process framework is part of the Visual GBV Pocket Guide Learning-by-Design package, a multi-resource package that will offer other humanitarian agencies/actors good practices on translating and adapting the GBV Pocket Guide, and other GBV guidance tools, into more visual and accessible versions that can be utilized by wider audiences.

This document specifically covers technical guidance on the steps required to develop a new visual adaptation of the GBV Pocket Guide but does not cover essential required actions for inter-agency coordination. Please ensure that you review and follow the inter-agency GBV Pocket Guide Adaptation Standards of Practice (SOP) throughout the process. This is included under Step 1 but must be carried through all steps of the process framework.

Ultimately, the aim is to ensure that such guidance can be developed, tested and widely disseminated throughout the humanitarian system, for use by both GBV specialized actors and other humanitarian response sectors, particularly at the most local, community-based levels where complex written documents may not be most suitable. Over time, expanding the reach of such core documents to a much wider, more local-level audience will serve to benefit the global humanitarian community of practice writ large.
